A Chance In The World

I rarely have the luxury of being able to sit and watch a movie, but in my solitude today, I relaxed into watching one called ‘A chance in the world.’  I know….I am so behind….nonetheless, It took me through a series of emotions, mostly sadness, anger and  helplessness.

As I viewed the abusive life of Steve at the hands of foster parents, I was pained to observe how nonchalance, processes and cold uncaring people can cause children to suffer in silence.  As I cried, I just wondered how many Steves there are out there, and I prayed over them!

I become introspective, wondering how aware I was being, and whether any signals had passed me - thankfully I can say I caught a few, as my sense of discernment have allowed me to pick up on what others have missed, time and time again!

I strongly believe children are little people, who though not as experienced, are oft times more aware and truthful than us adults.  We generally do not give them the respect, the credit or the listening ear they are due, and as such we do not attune ourselves to their needs and requests in part or in whole!

Our children need us...let us strive to be HIP for their sakes, be humble, intentional and prepared. It is incumbent on us as adults to feel/be responsible for the welfare of ALL children - it still takes a village, believe!

Sometimes we need to go get a coke allow the space for breakthrough and exploration without violating protocol.  The life we save today (literally or figuratively), may well be our own!
